Winter League Rules (Carl Mason Trophy)
- The Winter League will run from the beginning of October until the last Saturday in March (6 months)
- Players wishing to join the league must pay a £5.00 joining fee, which will be used for prize money.
- Each member's Stableford score is recorded for each round played, with their highest score each month counting as points in the league.
- The winner will be the player with highest total of points at the end of March.
- For any Winter League Saturday a minimum of two league members will constitute a quorum for a round. On any other day e.g Bank Holidays, New Year etc a minimum of six league members will be required for the round to count.
- For handicap reductions the following classes of League Handicap will apply:
- First - 0 (or less) to 12
- Second - 12 to 18
- Third - 18 and above
- The league member with the highest score in any round will have their handicap reduced for the remainder of the league period as follows:
- A winning score of 33 points or more will have the following reduction applied: First Class 1 stroke; Second Class 2 strokes; Third Class 3 strokes.
- A winning score of 32 points or less will not have any stroke reduction applied
- Where there is a tie for the highest score a 1stroke reduction will be applied to each member with that score
- Any member scoring 40 points or more will have their handicap reduced by 1 stroke. This reduction will be separate and additional to any reductions that might apply under Rule 7.
- If a member is unable to play a counting round in any month, their lowest score for the previous month will be used. Any carry forward will be applied for one month only. In the event of a player joining the league in November, their lowest score for that month will be used as their October points.
